Write to The Tola Desk

The desk reads every message sent to [email protected]. It exists to correct figures that are wrong, to answer questions about how a measurement is taken, and to hear from readers who find a source that has moved or closed. This page says what is worth writing about, what happens to a correction, and what the desk cannot answer.

Report a wrong figure

The desk wants to hear about a figure that looks wrong. If a published price in a table does not match the source named beneath it, write and say which table and which day. The desk will check the source and publish a correction if the figure is wrong.

It is also worth writing when a source has moved or closed. The desk names its sources under every table so a reader can check the figure at its publisher. If that publisher changes its web address or stops publishing, the desk needs to know. A question about how the measurement is taken is worth writing about too.

Corrections are dated and kept

A correction is dated on the page where the figure appeared. The desk does not silently change a number. It states that a figure was wrong, gives the corrected figure, and dates the change. A reader who sees a dated correction knows the desk found an error and fixed it.

The correction stays on the page. It is not removed after a few days. The desk keeps a record of what was changed and when. If the same wrong figure was repeated on another page, the desk corrects that page too and dates the correction there.

No personal advice or account help

This desk cannot give personal investment advice. It does not know a reader's circumstances, their need for cash, or their tolerance for risk. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy or sell anything. A message asking what a reader should do with their money will not receive advice.

The desk cannot help with a broker's account. If a reader has an account with FxPro, the broker linked from this site, the desk has no access to that account and no ability to change it. The desk does not handle money, does not execute trades, and does not take instructions about an account.

What the desk is and how it is paid

The Tola Desk is an independent editorial desk. It is not a broker, not an exchange, not a licensed adviser, and it holds no client money. Its subject is one measurement: a suggested retail price per gram, taken from named public sources and republished with the date and the hour it was read. Every weight below is that price multiplied out, with the London metal beside it.

The site links to one broker, FxPro, through an affiliate link, and is paid a commission if a reader opens an account there. The reader pays nothing to this site and nothing extra at the broker. The broker's own site is operated by someone else, under its own terms and its own privacy policy, and following the link leaves this site.
